Artist Statement:
This artwork was designed for the band DISPOSSESSED who are an all POC member, political hardcore/metal band set to decolonise the Australian music scene. The design was used on a t-shirt (see second image). The image is a provocative image meant to challenge the idea of hate speech. It also lends visual references to the lynchings of black people in America in the 20th century, the Salem witch trials and christian iconography. Together these create a commentary on the self-appointed "martyrdom" of far right patriots of Australia and a role reversal of white supremacists.
