TYRONNE GIETZMANN
Tyronne Gietzmann is an African-Australian artist based in Melbourne, Victoria (Wurundjeri Country).
Tyronne’s style is bold, dark and has a raw edge that aligns with his strong involvement with poltical actist circles and the DIY punk scene, along with his primarily self taught approach to his multi disciplinary practice. Recently his body of work has focused on his South African herritage, aiming to tell an often unheard voice within the Australian cultural landscape. He believes that the responsibility of an artist is to highlight the uncomfortable truths and cast it into a medium so that people can reflect and interpret the subject matter in their own time and place. Art serves as a mirror to see the unknowns of ourselves and how we are shaped by our realities”
“ To be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”- Nelson Mandela
“I believe that there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those that do the oppressing.I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyoneand those who want to continue the systems of exploitation.” — Malcolm X
